Onaqui Mountain wild horses
Great Basin Desert
Wild horse behavior is fascinating to observe. This foal is exhibiting a submissive gesture as he gets scolded by his band stallion for lagging behind after the rest of his family moved on. I think of this as tough love, because there were other stallions fighting very close to this vulnerable little one. Hard to think to think of these families torn apart by gathers/removals.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to spend countless hours in the wild pursuing my art while capturing images of horses as nature intended...as they wish to be...simply themselves. My hope, always, is that these images convey to others the soulful beauty and magnificent spirit of wild horses and the landscapes they call home.
